ERA Noise Remover Pro Operation
ERA Noise Remover Pro - Master Processing Knob
This is the master processing control of Noise Remover Pro. Most of the time, this is the only control you need to process your audio. Use it to adjust the processing applied to the whole signal, like you’d do with the knob of Noise Remover Standard.
At the same time, you can apply different processing amounts per frequency band, using the Spectral Display area. The processing amount of each band is attached to the master processing knob. Go to the Spectral Display section for more information.
The outer black ring on the knob reflects the available processing range. While adjusting the processing amount of a band, you will see the available range changing.
Tip: Start by adjusting the overall processing using the master knob. You can therefore fine tune the result by adjusting the processing per band.
Tip: Double-click on the master control knob to reset it to the default value. The processing amount of each frequency band will reset as well.
Processing per band
ERA Noise Remover Pro - Real-time Spectral Display
The upper half of the plug-in interface is mostly occupied by the Spectral Display area, which is divided into four independent frequency bands by default. You can control the processing amount of each band separately, by adjusting the horizontal white bars. You can also expand or shrink the range of each band by adjusting the vertical bars.
Band Control Window
ERA Noise Remover Pro - Band Control Window
Hovering the mouse over each band will display that band’s Control Window. This window contains controls that let you fine-tune the processing applied to each band. The available controls are:
- Band On/Off: Enables/Disables the processing of the current band.
- Band Monitor: Allows you to audition the current band while muting all others.
- Band Link: Links/Unlinks current band from the Master Processing knob. As long as this is enabled, the Master knob will not control that band’s processing amount. All bands are linked to the Master knob by default. The horizontal processing bar of a band will change to a dashed line when that band gets unlinked.
- Remove Band: Removes the current band. The minimum number of available bands is three.
- Split Band: Splits the current band in half, as long as it is wider than two octaves. The maximum number of available bands is six.
ERA Noise Remover Pro - Unlinked Band
Info: An unlinked band does not affect the available range of the Master Processing Knob.
ERA Noise Remover - Hum/Buzz mode
On the left side of the plug-in, just below the Input Gain slider, you will find the Hum/Buzz control. Enable it when you have to deal with persistent tonal noise, like the AC hum caused by faulty groundings, or the buzz caused by a faulty cable.
Tip: Hum/Buzz control can eliminate any hum or buzz sound. However, depending on the case, when combined with high processing values it may introduce some audio artifacts. Roll-off some processing and you should be good to go.
ERA Noise Remover Pro - Input Gain
Use the Input and Output sliders to adjust the level of the signal before and after the denoising process.
Warning: The input and output gains are bypassed when the ON/OFF switch is set at OFF.
Tip: If the input signal is too loud, the clipping LED indicator of the input meter will turn red. Reduce the input gain to a convenient level and then click on the clipping LED to reset it.
ERA Noise Remover Pro - Output Gain
Due to the nature of noise reduction, the level of the output signal can be lower than the level of the original signal. The output gain works as a make-up gain of the output signal. As we mentioned above, the output gain is bypassed, when the ON/OFF switch is set at OFF. This is handy when you want to compare the original with the processed signal.
Tip: You can double-click on a control to reset it to its default value.
ERA Noise Remover Pro - Presets
The Preset System of Noise Remover Pro includes a set of factory presets that can help you quickly find an effective starting point depending on the case. You can create custom presets and save them in the preset folder as well. To open the preset menu, just click the Preset button.
Tip: If you are a producer and work mainly with specific artists, you can create and save dedicated presets for each one of them, so you can quickly load them at every session.
Info: Presets are stored by default at the following paths: Windows: MacOs:
Warning: When you uninstall Noise Remover Pro from Windows, all factory presets will be deleted. Your custom presets however will remain untouched!
Listen to the noise button
ERA Noise Remover Pro - DIFF button
On the right side, under the Output Gain slider, you’ll find the DIFF button. Enable it to listen to the removed noise while processing. In other words, you’ll hear the difference between the processed and the unprocessed audio.
Tip: Enable the DIFF button and increase the overall processing amount using the Master knob, until you start hearing a significant part of the voice being removed along with the unwanted noise. Decrease the processing amount a little bit, disable the DIFF button, and there you are! This way you quickly remove most of the noise while maintaining the natural character of your recording.
Tip: For better results, take advantage of the Monitor button inside the Band Control Window and follow the same procedure per band.
ERA Noise Remover Pro - A/B switch
There might come times when you are not certain of which setting works better for you. You can use the A/B switch to quickly compare two settings and help you in your decision.
Tip: You can adjust all plug-in controls independently for the A and the B setting.
ERA Noise Remover Pro - ON/OFF switch
Use the ON/OFF switch to turn the plug-in processing on or off. When the switch is OFF, the entire plug-in is bypassed and the original signal comes through untouched.
Tip: We suggest to use the ON/OFF switch (instead of the DAW’s bypass control for the plug-in). This will keep your audio in sync with the rest of your tracks in your DAW session.
Resizing the plug-in window
Noise Remover Pro offers the option to resize the plug-in window. This can be especially helpful if you have large or high-resolution screens or you just want to focus on a specific task. Click the zoom icon at the top right corner and choose between three settings.
ERA Noise Remover Pro - Window Resize
Warning: Low resolution screens such as 800x640 cannot correctly display the plug-in for zoom options above 100%. Additionally, some hosts may clip the plug-in window in such low resolutions.
Quick Info Button
On the left side of the A/B switch, you will find the Quick Info button. Enable it and hover the mouse over any control of Noise Remover Pro. A pop-up window will appear right below the Info button, containing helpful information and tips for each control.
