The ERA 5 Noise Remover is the most suitable tool to repair your audio when it’s suffering from static background noises produced by fans, air-conditioners, electric hum & hiss, etc.
Hum and Buzz are two of the most common problems in audio recordings. Both of these types of noise are usually caused by poor groundings in electrical installations, faulty wiring in the audio path, or external electromagnetic interferences.
Hum normally sounds like a low-frequency tone based at either 50 Hz (for the USA) or 60 Hz (for Europe), plus harmonics. If the harmonics are especially strong, the hum becomes an edgy Buzz.
Although ERA 5 Noise Remover could already handle cases where a hum/buzz noise was affecting the audio, we implemented this extra module to improve the audible results even further. So, the next time a Hum/Buzz noise is haunting your audio, just enable the Hum/Buzz button to get rid of any persistent tonal noise.
The Hum/Buzz button is present in both the ERA 5 Noise Remover and ERA 5 Noise Remover Pro versions of the plugin. On the ERA 5 Noise Remover, it is located on the lower-left corner of the Processing knob of the plugin.
On the ERA 5 Noise Remover Pro, the button is found on the lower-left corner of the frequency spectrum window.
Hover your mouse over it and the following tooltip will be displayed:
Keep in mind that the Hum/Buzz module will eliminate any hum or buzz completely, but it may add some artifacts to the useful audio, depending on the case. We strongly advise you to use it only when it's needed.
