The basics
Regroover receives MIDI note messages from the DAW or from an external MIDI controller.
Make sure Regroover is receiving MIDI signals properly, by ensuring that the MIDI IN indicator LED is lighting green when MIDI input is received.
If you don't see the LED turning green, please consult your DAW's guide to setup your MIDI controller in the DAW first.

Midi and Layers
You can playback each layer using MIDI notes. Each layer corresponds to the note displayed on the layer track. These notes are C3 through F3 for layers 1 to 6 respectively.
Note: The corresponding notes for Cockos Reaper are C4 through F4 and for FL Studio are C5 through F5.
Midi and Expansion Kit
Each pad in Regroover's expansion kit is showing you the exact MIDI note/key that you need to press to trigger it. These notes are C4 through D#5 for pads 1 to 16 respectively!
Note: The corresponding notes for Cockos Reaper are C5 through D#6 and for FL Studio are C6 through D#7.
Regroover Midi Tips
1) If you have a smaller MIDI controller, eg. a 2 octave one, you might need to use it's Octave Up (+) button a couple of times, until you can access the C5 key and higher.
Here's an example from a small MIDI controller:
2) Layers' MIDI is not sensitive to velocity levels (set always velocity to max). On the other hand, Expansion kit's MIDI, velocity is taken into account.
MIDI Settings
Regroover allows you to separately choose a MIDI mode for Layers and Expansion Kit, amongst three configurations which can be found in the SETTINGS window:
- Trigger mode, triggers layer/pad playback from the beginning to the end and stops after playback reaches the end. (Expansion Kit's default MIDI mode)
- Toggle mode, toggles playback of layers/pads. The first note on MIDI event will begin playback from the beginning and loop until another note on event is received.
- Hold mode, loops over the layer/pad audio for as long as you hold down the corresponding note. (Layers' default MIDI mode)
