Let’s remember how Mode and Intense work in ERA De-Esser....
Right below the main Processing Knob of ERA De-Esser, there are two additional features; Mode and Intense.
Mode can be set at: a) Narrow, b) Normal, c) Broad.
Depending on the selected mode, the plug-in will detect sibilance in different, carefully tuned frequency regions, so you can get the best result. Broad mode will affect sibilance more, while narrow mode will affect sibilance less.
On the other hand, Intense has only 2 states. It can either be Enabled or Disabled. This option affects the processing intensity. Enable it for a more steep and aggressive processing.
So, what’s different in De-Esser Pro?
In ERA De-Esser Pro, we broke things down and made all these options fully adjustable, for users who need total control in their hands, without loosing the intuition and the ease of use! The new features are called Focus and Shaping.
The Focus parameter ranges from 1kHz to 8kHz. Adjust the parameter to specify the frequency region that ERA De-Esser Pro will detect sibilance.
The Shaping parameter is similar to Intense, but you can now adjust the processing curve. The parameter ranges from -100 to +100.
Moving the slider towards the SOFT side, a more gentle curve is applied onto the sibilance region, leading to a more natural sound.
Moving the slider towards the SHARP side, a more steep curve is applied onto the sibilance region, leading to a tighter result.
Combine Focus and Shaping to optimize the processing. Remember to use the Audition and Diff buttons to fine tune the final audio.
